Declare Him Faithful!

Updated: Sep 25, 2023

God's faithfulness amazes me! I sent my friend a retirement card when she retired last month.

As I signed her card, I was introspective about all the answered prayers that she received from

1996 - 2023. We both worked together in the same facility in the 90's. She received the unpleasant, unwarranted notice that her job was eliminated. When she got the news, she was devastated!

I was working as a nurse manager; I knew her well. I felt overwhelmed momentarily because I didn't know her future. She had three young sons and her senior mom lived with her. I felt the weight of the announcement on her mind. This was so unexpected!!

As we talked, a prayer came to mind. We prayed for her success in:

  • Selling her house to allow her to purchase a new one

  • Finding a new house that would provide space for her mom along with her family, since the area that she was moving to was more expensive than where we lived and

  • Acquiring a new job that would afford her a promotion, bonuses, management oversight, and stability

Praise God for His faithfulness in her life! She avoided several layoffs with His help, aided her mom until she passed away at 99 years old, received bonuses, was promoted, mentored many worldwide in her field, as well as completed eighteen research patents. We both are reflecting on these events with joy! Only God knew her future!

As I congratulated her on her retirement, I noted the multiple categories of prayer completion and God's finished plan that exceeded what we prayed:

  • Ephesians 3:20: Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think, (NLT).

  • Jeremiah 29:11: For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future, (NIV).

  • Psalm 99:6: Moses and Aaron were among his priests; Samuel also called on his name. They cried to the Lord for help, and he answered them, (NLT).

  • The scroll picture above highlights the fact that God blessed her to be granted eighteen patents.

Believe that God is a master of the big problems and significant issues. He knows how to guide us through any situation, including impossible ones. Twenty-seven years later, I want to encourage us all to stay in the races that we are running, even difficult ones. Suicide or major depression are not the immediate answers that many may consider when jobs are eliminated, or when we lose family members or friends. Pray for the necessary contacts. Seek support. Seek community input through your pastor, your genuine friends, and your close neighbors. If the situation feels overwhelming, additionally, call or text 988, the National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. You can experience voice-to-voice contact day or night when working through a crisis.

Yes, I know that we can feel down when we don't see our way. I know that it doesn't feel fair when

we lose our job(s), family members, or friends. Some of us lost jobs more than once. I know that we

feel lonely when we're trying to figure it out. Please trust God. He has all our answers and connections. He answers prayers, Psalm 99:6. Join Abraham, Aaron - his brother, and Samuel.

He heard them.
