Don't Live by Bread Alone!

Happy, healthy 2021!

Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred. And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.

Jesus fasted for 40 days and clearly was hungry. Yet, the devil challenged Jesus' status by inferring that if He was the Son of God - He could command stones turn into bread. Yes, Jesus could command bread to eat, but this was not His primary desire at this time.

Jesus wanted to show us how to confront temptation with the word of God. This is important as we commence the New Year. We will face tribulations guaranteed!

Take away: Ask God to assist us promptly when we confront any situations, especially unfamiliar or unnerving ones. God is an very present and well-proved help to us in trouble, Psalm 46:1 (Amplified Bible). Yes, He is!
