And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you. And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed, Joel 2:25-26.
***
The first verse references an apparent dreadful famine by these 4 categories of insects in Israel.
We have all experienced things chewing in our lives like the locusts mentioned above, whether it’s a drain on finances, illness, gender concerns, relationships gone wrong or not maintained, job loss, unfinished projects or death. God is still looking to support us as we eat, read and obey “plenty” of His Word. Praise is always acceptable to God who made us and who keeps us. He deals wondrously with us. Shame never needs to step up on our porch.
We are not defined by the trouble we experience “over the years”, because He made a way for us to “cast” our burdens on Him. He sustains us. “He will never suffer/allow the righteous to be moved”, Psalm 55:22. Know that restoration is in progress as we seek His face and follow the steps that He orders for us, Psalm 37:23.
