He Gave His Life

Jesus Gave His Life

As we commemorate the suffering, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we must acknowledge the immeasurable love that compelled Him to the cross. Easter is a definitive celebration of victory over death and serves as a crucial moment to ponder the more profound implications of His sacrifice.

1. The Price of Righteousness

What price was God willing to pay to secure a righteous outcome for humanity? The answer lies in His boundless love. I often think about Jesus' incredible selflessness. He left a glorious place like Heaven to come to earth for a mission that specifically led to His death. It is a powerful reminder of the extent of His love and sacrifice for humankind. He willingly took on the burden of our sins, showing us what true love and obedience look like. "And being found in the appearance of a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to death-even death on a cross!" - Philippians 2:8 This commitment motivates me to live with a faith-filled purpose and to appreciate His example.

God sacrificed His only Son, Jesus, allowing Him to bear the weight of sin that humanity could never redeem. This act of grace represents the ultimate gift—a pathway back to righteousness and a restored relationship with God.

2. Freedom to Walk with God

As Jesus laid down His life, He showed us the power of release—letting go of earthly desires, fears, and selfish ambitions. To truly walk with God, we must do the introspection in our hearts: What holds us back? Is it pride, doubt, bitterness, wrath, malice, harmful speech, or worldly distractions? Easter challenges us to surrender and fully embrace faith and obedience. It is a time to reflect on a deeper relationship with God, inspired by His ultimate sacrifice.

3. Seeking His Face

What can we do to seek His face after He gave His life for us? Easter energizes us to deepen our relationship with God through prayer, worship, and acts of kindness. Seeking His face is not merely an event—it is a daily pursuit of His will and purpose for our lives. His sacrifice calls us to live in gratitude and reflect His love for others. "By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love one to another", John 13:35.

4. Restoration to Glory

God desired to restore humanity to its original state of glory, a state of purity and connection before Adam and Eve sinned. Through Mary, He prepared His Son to enter the world as the second Adam, destined to redeem what was lost, 1 Corinthians 15:45. This restoration reminds us that His plan for humanity was never abandonment but renewal and eternal life.

Remember that we have an opportunity to inherit God's best. Ephesians 2:8 reminds us: "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God." Indeed, He is risen for our sakes!
