We need healing, in ourselves, families, workplaces and our nation. We have all prayed for healing of family and friends from coronavirus. The public health advice is to wash our hands thoroughly for at least 20 seconds.
Just cleansing of our hands doesn't close up the holes in our hearts. We also need healing for our souls and psyches. "You want us to be completely truthful, so teach us wisdom. Take away our sin, and we will be clean. Wash us, and we will be whiter than snow", Psalm 51:17.
David asked for forgiveness after he sinned with lusting for another man's wife, cohabitating with her and having Bathsheba's husband, Uriah killed on the front lines of battle, 2 Samuel 11. After Uriah's death, David took her as his wife. David knew that he needed to repent (change course) after the Prophet Nathan confronted his secret tactics, 2 Samuel 12.
We're in a new year. We have an open door to seek healing from God for whatever ails us physically, mentally, integrity-wise, rejection-wise, spiritually and psychologically. God already knows if we crossed the line in our activities. We don't have to spend time painting over it. Repent. Do it right. Blessing will follow our obedience...
