But now you must also put away all the following: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and filthy language from your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self. You are being renewed in knowledge according to the image of your Creator, Colossians 3:8-10.
Let’s refresh our minds and plans for the New Year. There are things to put away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and filthy language from your mouth. Why? These things distract from the peace that Jesus intended for us.
Don’t lie. My mother always said that if I told one lie, I’d need to tell another to cover it. This
is an old practice. It takes lots of time to keep it all straight. We get to exercise in strength when we apply this information.
What’s happening? We are being renewed and revived in our relationship with Jesus and with others. This renewal can provide an uplifted image and new energy for 2021. I have been rethinking what old tapes are playing in the back of my mind. I want to be aware, so that I can work in tandem with God to thwart anything that does not yield my best.
Dear Lord, help us all focus on Your image from Colossians 3:8-10.
